This retreat is for those who yearn to try new ways to be creative and try their hand at painting with acrylics, who wish to leave with wonderful self-made souvenirs of their time away, and who wish to experience the peacefulness of yoga and meditation in a gentle flowing space, each working to their own comfort level and process.

Do you yearn to get out of your normal routine and reconnect with your natural flow of being creative and expansive?

To feel carefree and peaceful, and try your hand at new skills?

To enjoy morning yoga and meditation with the sound of the insects humming nearby in the rice fields of beautiful rural Ubud?

If the answer is yes, then think about treating yourself to six delightful nights staying at the beautifully designed natural villas, carefully chosen to make you feel reconnected to nature and yourself.

All activities are entirely optional and if you wish to simply relax by the pool all day or go for spa treatments, you’re most welcome to.

This is your time for you, so you can do as much, or as little as you desire.

One cannot help but be inspired in this amazingly creative centre, with the smells and sounds and colours delighting your every sense.

I dare you not to be swept up in the magic of this ancient land and culture, the daily rituals and offerings all around, the plant life, the food, the people.

It truly is a land of memorable delights, and I am excited to be able to share my passion for it, and yoga, and art with you.

The accommodation is 6 beautifully architect designed villas surrounding an open air communal living room, and swimming pool.

Located down a narrow quiet lane with the last part no car access, please note that your driver from the airport will help with your luggage to and from the retreat.

Rooms are light and airy, naturally ventilated, designed to encourage the flow of air for cooling and all are equipped with fans. Decorated with traditional wood carved Indonesian furniture and natural tones, a delight to the eyes with it’s calming influence.

All can be configured to accommodate twin share. Private bathrooms and balconies complete each villa. Please note, some are upstairs, so if mobility is an issue please let me know beforehand.

Rooms also provide towels, linen, soap, shampoo, and hangers. *Please note, no hairdryer, but hey, its Bali, who needs one!

The communal area houses a fridge where you can store any drinks or foods you may have purchased. Basics, including soft drinks, beers and snacks, toiletries etc. are available at mini marts in the main area of town as well as multiple ATMs.

Fast wifi is provided though, so you can let your loved ones know how good you have it, and make them wish they were there too 😉

Breakfast will be served in the communal area each morning. Bali coffee and tea and biscuits are available throughout every day, and also fresh drinking water.

*Please note the rooms do not have TVs or minibars. The aim of the retreat is to encourage full immersion in the moment and not be distracted by such things as television, instead enjoy the hum of the crickets and frogs singing their praises to the evening.

With this retreat the aim is for people to leave feeling lighter and brighter (energetically), and confident in their abilities to create wonderful reminders of their time on the delightful island of Bali.

Leave with a sense of calm and confidence, and pride in the pieces you have created during the week, excited to show your friends and family back home.

During the Illuminate Your HeArt retreat participants will be welcomed to take place in either morning yoga, and/or meditation. This will be a gentle hatha flow style, allowing space for those to work at their own ability and comfort level. Please note these sessions are in no way compulsory, if you wish to simply sleep in, go for it, no judgement here!

In addition there will be three art workshops using acrylics on canvas boards. The classes will be comprised of an initial introduction to working with paints and brushwork, colour wheels and mixing your own colours, noting and relaying tone, shadows and highlights, and then completion of some simple studies such as a mindful rendition of your choice of beautiful Balinese flower, seedpod, or other such small item from nature. Let the quote “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change” guide you during this session. Really take notice of every small nuance of the subject you wish to paint, and let it take up your whole thought process and allow the talent to flow!

Another class we will have as open expression, so if there’s something you’ve always wanted to have a go at painting, now’s your time! If you want to bring along any photos with fairly straightforward images to try painting, please do so. Please note, if you have little or no experience in painting, please don’t bring along a picture of the Mona Lisa or Monet’s Waterlillies and hope to recreate it flawlessly. Keep it simple folks .

The third art session will be a study of a piece, or pieces of Balinese fruit. There are some wonderful and unusual fruit in Indonesia like the mangosteen, which make for fabulous still life studies. Also available for those who baulk at the thought of using paints on canvas, the option of following along with the workshops using graphite ( lead pencil) and   paper is also there. If this is your preference, please make sure to let me know so I can provide the materials. We will also travel to a studio where we will be shown the traditional skill of batik making, and then create your own piece to take home, and then on another day be shown how to make your own piece of silver jewellery to take home and wear with pride.
