THE WORKSHOPS
Soothe your Soul, Calm your Mind, and Relax your Body with 5 Days and Nights in tropical paradise.
Mindfulness refers to the practice of remembering to bring attention to present moment experience in a non-judgmental and open-minded manner. Mindfulness has been used for thousands of years in spiritual traditions and in the last 40 years practices similar to mindfulness have been used in a number of psychotherapies. In the last 15 years mindfulness practices have become increasingly popular in contemporary psychology and in the literature related to this contemporary use, mindfulness is considered as a meditation practice, a coping skill and a mode of being. Mindfulness can be learnt individually or within group settings and is not limited to any one particular mental, emotional or spiritual approach. During this retreat Mindfulness will be explored from a Buddhist, neuroscience and a psychological perspective, making it practical and useful for people who live modern busy lives.
This retreat provides you with the opportunity to find peace in a busy world.
Mindfulness is a form of mental trainings. It is NOT:
- a religion, although there may be a spiritual element to the practice.
- about sitting cross-legged on the floor (but you can if you want to), chairs will be provided at every session.
- about emptying your mind, it’s about tuning in and becoming more aware or “awake” to what is.
- complicated, nor is it about success or failure. Every persons experience is unique to them and cannot be compared.
How This Wellness Retreat May Benefit You:
1. Quieten the mind and bring awareness to the way you think about life
2. Explore and deepen your meditation practice
3. Relax and refresh
4. Deeply rest and rejuvenate
5. Take peaceful time away from usual routine and surroundings

This retreat is designed to support busy women to slow down and connect with themselves, in a beautiful location, in a fun and supportive way, whilst in the company of other like-minded women.

Keeping Your body in Mind
This after dinner session uses body scan meditation to help explore the difference between thinking about sensation and experiencing it. Many of us spend so much time living ‘in our heads’ that we almost forget about the world experienced directly through our senses. The body scan meditation helps to train your mind so you can focus your attention directly on your bodily sensations without judging or analysing what you find. This helps you to see, ever more clearly, when the mind has begun to wander away by itself, so that you gradually learn to ‘taste’ the difference between the ‘thinking mind’ and the ‘sensing mind’. Body scan can also be used to create an experience of deep relaxation. Lovely to do just before bed.

Mindful Movement
Use the practice of mindful walking and being in your body to help the mind to continue the process of re-integrating with the body. You’ll gradually learn that the body is exquisitely sensitive to emerging unsettling feelings when you are becoming too goal focussed – and this allows you to see how tense, angry or unhappy you become when things don’t turn out the way you want. It’s an early warning system of profound power and significance that allows you to head off problems before they gain unstoppable momentum.

Re-Balancing our Lives
Explore the close connection between our daily routines, behaviour and mood. When we are stressed and exhausted we often give up the things that ‘nourish’ us to make time for the more ‘pressing’ and ‘important’ things. Begin to use meditation to help you make skillful choices, so you can do more of the things that nourish you, and limit the downside of the those things that drain and deplete your inner resources. This will help you to enter a virtuous cycle that leads to greater creativity, resilience and the ability to enjoy life spontaneously as it is, rather than how you wish it to be. Explore the Four Noble Truths and The Noble eightfold Path and how these can be used as a framework for living and ethical and spiritual living.
11:30 AM – Morning activity – Walking the rice fields of Bali
This morning, we will take you on a gentle nature walk, first through a small village (Sakti) and then we will follow the rice field’s path all the way to Sari Organic where a delicious lunch will be served.
